Nicole Alvarez
Nicole Alvarez is originally from Wheeling, Illinois and has been in Cobb County for the past 3 years. She received her bachelor and master degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. During that time, Ms. Alvarez was part of the Womens Glee Club, Black Gospel Chorus, and was the vocal director of the all-female a cappella group, The Ripchords. This group received national recognition at competitions and festivals throughout the country.
Prior to coming to Hillgrove High School, Ms. Alvarez was the choral director at South Cobb High School. Her responsibilities included directing numerous choirs, musical productions and show choir. Productions include Big (2004), Guys and Dolls (2006). In the spring of 2006, the South Cobb High School Chorus performed at Festival Disney receiving a superior rating. She has also previously served as the vocal director at Harrison High School for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Ms. Alvarez serves at West Ridge Church in East Paulding where she sings with the praise band and leads the choir. She loves to teach and work with choirs, but she also enjoys performing whenever she can. In her spare time, Ms. Alvarez also enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
